The trials of high school life were the focus of this youthful comedy. Patty
and Lauren were best friends who were new freshmen at Weemawee High School.
They desperately wanted to be popular and to get into the right social clique,
but were not quite cool enough to do it. Patty was skinny and wore glasses, and
Lauren, horror of horrors, still had braces on her teeth. Marshall, the resident
class clown, was one of their best friends, and even had a bit of a crush on
Lauren. Johnny, the New Wave music freak, was Marshall's best friend and also
spent much of his spare time with the girls. The there were the people they
could never get close to, wealthy Jennifer, whose life revolved around clothes
and guys; Muffy, the preppie head cheerleader; LaDonna, the bigoted black
sophisticate; and Vinny, Weemawee's answer to John Travolta, a self-centered
obnoxious hunk who knew he was God's gift to women.
