Once Upon A Time is, at its core, a story about hope.
It’s that ability to think your life will get better.

Emma Swan’s life has been anything but a fairytale. A 28-year-old bail bondsperson,
she’s been taking care of herself since she was abandoned as a baby.
But when Henry, the son she gave up 10 years ago finds her, everything changes.
Henry is desperate for his mom’s help and thinks that Emma is actually the long,
lost daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. Yes, the actual Snow White and
Prince Charming. Even stranger, Henry believes that Storybrooke, the sleepy
New England town he calls home, is really part of a curse cast by the Evil Queen,
freezing fairytale characters in the modern world with no memory of their former selves.

Of course the seen-it-all Emma doesn’t believe a word, but when she gets to Storybrooke,
she can’t help sensing that everything’s not quite what it seems. As Henry shows Emma
around with the help of his fairytale book, the town, and its inhabitants like Henry’s
therapist Archie Hopper and the enigmatic Mr. Gold, seem just strange enough to set
off her already suspicious nature. She becomes even more concerned for Henry when she
meets his adopted mother, Regina, who he suspects is none other than the Evil Queen herself!

Storybrooke is a place where magic has been forgotten, but is still powerfully close,
and happily ever after seems just out of reach. In order to understand where the fairytale
world’s former inhabitants came from, and what ultimately led to the Evil Queen’s wrath,
you’ll need a glimpse into their previous lives. But it might just turn
everything you’ve ever believed about these characters upside-down.

Meanwhile, the epic battle for the future of all worlds, modern and fairytale alike, is
about to begin. For good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.

Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, two master storytellers behind Lost and Tron: Legacy,
invite everyone to brace themselves for a modern fairytale with thrilling twists and
hints of darkness, brimming with wonder and filled with the magic of our most beloved stories.

Perhaps the most fabled of all Fairy Tale princes, Charming is everything we already know
him to be and more. Yes, he’s tall, noble, and handsome, but he’s also a leader of men
and a battle-tested warrior entirely worthy of his royal status. He is a master
swordsman, quick, decisive, pure of heart and every bit the epitome of a Fairy Tale prince.
When he learns of the Evil Queen’s latest scheme, he rallies the forces of good to find
a way to stop it. Their plan is compromised, however, when Snow gives birth to Emma
before Charming and his men are able to complete the wardrobe that will transport
them to safety. Since the wardrobe can only protect one, Charming and Snow decide
to place newborn Emma inside alone, hoping that she will someday return to free them.

In Fairy Tale Land our Evil Queen is a beautiful, terrifying woman who carries herself
with awful menace. She is the mortal enemy of Snow White and Prince Charming.
Determined to have her vengeance on all the inhabitants of Fairy Tale Land,
the Evil Queen is willing to do whatever it takes to destroy their happy endings.
She uses her dark powers to enact a curse on the land, one that sends all of its
inhabitants, “somewhere horrible. Absolutely horrible. A place where the only
happy ending will be mine.” A place where nobody but the Evil Queen will have
any recollection of who they are or how they arrived. A place void of hope.
A place that sounds eerily similar to Storybrooke, Maine.

In Fairy Tale Land he’s the little voice that always reminds you to do the right thing.
We all know him as Pinocchio’s confidant, ever trying to steer the marionette-made-boy
clear of the rocky shoals of temptation. But haven’t you ever wondered where Jiminy
was coming from when he strolled by the window of Geppetto’s shop on
that magical night when the blue fairy made Pinocchio a real boy?

Gnomish, intense, and crazy, he’s the malevolent trickster who can spin straw into
gold and prefers his payment in the form of firstborn children. An expert on black
magic and the dark arts, this creature has wizardly powers to make him a fair
match for anyone in the land, even the Evil Queen. In spite of all this, Snow White
and Prince Charming have managed to capture him and to keep him imprisoned in their
dungeon. He agrees to help Snow and Charming counteract the Evil Queen’s
curse-to-end-all-curses, but in return he wants to know the name of their unborn child.
And Snow and Charming are just desperate enough to give it to him.

In Fairy Tale Land she’s Snow White, the fairest of them all. Lips red as rose, hair
black as coal, and skin as white as snow. Awakened from the Queen’s sleeping death by
her Prince Charming, Snow is on her way to happily ever after when the Queen crashes
her wedding and vows that she will yet enact her revenge on the couple. Not one to
roll over without a fight, Snow stands up to the Queen and challenges her power.
Strong, competent, and self-assured, our Snow White is a far cry from the demure
damsel we might imagine. However, once Snow becomes pregnant, her anxiety about the
Queen's threat prompts her to seek knowledge of the future from the only person who
can see it, Rumplestiltskin. He makes a deal with Snow: information about the Queen’s
plans for the name of Snow’s unborn daughter. He tells Snow & Charming that the Queen
created a powerful curse, one that will send everyone from Fairy Tale Land to a place
where they will be deprived of their happy endings. But, Rumplestiltskin counsels,
there is hope. If Snow & Charming can keep their unborn daughter safe from the curse
then, in 28 years, she will return to them and they will be able to undo the Queen’s curse.
Snow White honors her deal and gives Rumplestiltskin the name: Emma. But at what future cost?
