Former neurosurgeon Megan Hunt, brings a unique and refreshing crime solving perspective
to her new job as Medical Examiner and finds herself at odds with just about everyone
she runs into. In addition to starting a new career, Megan must also rebuild her
relationship with her family which she has neglected for her career.
Brilliant yet abrasive, determined yet inaccessible, Dr. Megan Hunt is many things.
Easily understood, however, is not one of them. Once a high flying neurosurgeon,
a car accident ended her career. Bowed but not broken,
she reinvented herself as a medical examiner.
Now she uses her vast medical knowledge and investigative instincts to solve the medical
mysteries of the dead and bring those responsible for their deaths to justice.
If only she were as successful in her personal life. A bitter divorce ended with
Megan's ex-husband gaining sole custody of their daughter. As an advocate for the
dead Megan is unequaled; as a mother she has a lot to learn, but learn she must
if she wants to win back her daughter's love and forgiveness.
If you told Peter Dunlop that someday he'd be a Medicolegal Investigator for the Philadelphia
Medical Examiner's Office, he would've called you crazy. After all, when you spend the better
part of your life as a cop, learning the intricacies of sectioning a lung isn't at the top of
your wish list. But after a gunshot ripped through his shoulder during a convenience store
robbery, Peter found himself off the streets and inside a rehab facility. Three months of
physical therapy later, he had found his true calling: medicine. As partner and confidant
to Dr. Megan Hunt, Peter now finds himself investigating Philadelphia's most mysterious
medical cases alongside one of the most brilliant Medical Examiners in the country.
Dr. Curtis Brumfield is the administrative glue that holds the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's
Office together. As the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner he is technically Megan's boss.
But Curtis is starting to realize no one is Megan's boss. Still Curtis is a capable and
intelligent Medical Examiner whose bluster belies his love for his job. When Curtis isn't busy
trying to rein in Megan, you can find him down in the dirt examining his life's obsession: Bugs.
It takes a lot to become the first female Chief Medical Examiner in Philadelphia's History.
Just ask Dr. Kate Murphy. Equal parts pathologist and politician, Kate must deftly maintain
relationships among the M.E.O., the Philadelphia Police Department and City Hall.
No easy task—especially when reining in Dr. Megan Hunt proves to be a full-time job.
However, Kate and Megan will find common ground searching for the
one thing that will give grieving families solace—the truth.

After witnessing his first autopsy in medical school, Ethan had only one thought: Awesome.
Giving up pediatrics for forensic pathology the very same day, Ethan now finds himself as
the youngest and most enthusiastic fellow working at the Medical Examiner's Office.
While he tries to model himself after Dr. Megan Hunt, Ethan's biggest challenge isn't
scientific knowledge or medical prowess, but learning how to apply that
knowledge in order to ease the pain of victims' grieving families.

A hardheaded, straight-shooting veteran of the Philadelphia Homicide Division, Bud is no
stranger to death and violent crimes. He fights for justice on the streets of Philly
while fighting a personal battle at home: mending a crumbling relationship with
his wife who just kicked him out of their Center City Brownstone.
When you've tackled gang bangers slinging drugs in South Philly, Detective Bud Morris doesn't
seem so bad. At least that's what Detective Samantha Baker tells herself about her new partner.
While Bud finds Dr. Megan Hunt's methods irritating, Sam identifies with Megan's hands-on,
take-no-prisoners approach. In fact, she finds herself right at home investigating murder
and unraveling the mystery alongside the Medical Examiner's Office. A recent transfer from
the VICE unit, Sam must balance her allegiance to her partner Bud and the tried and true methods
of Homicide Division with her growing respect for Megan and her unconventional work in the M.E.O.
From executive producers Matt Gross and Christopher Murphey comes this fascinating procedural
built on a strong and compelling female lead. Each week, as Dr. Hunt and her colleagues close
a new case, she will come a tiny step closer to letting other people into her life.
