The trials and tribulations of the Henderson family of
New York City: Harry, an attorney; his wife, Alice;
their son, Donnie; and their maid, Beulah, the
irrepressible Queen of the Kitchen. Stories relate
Beulah's attempts to solve arising household crises
and the problems that are created by her unpredictable
girlfriend, Oriole and her boyfriend, Bill Jackson,
a fix-it-shop owner.

"Somebody bawl fo' Beulah?" she exclaimed, as TV's
favorite black maid came once again to the rescue
of her ever-bumbling employers. Beulah, one of the
most popular characters of the 1940s and 1950s,
originated as a supporting role on radio's
Fibber McGee and Molly program in 1944.
